CRASH, a construction charity that focuses on improving buildings for homeless people, is one of the participating organisations in the 2014 Windsor Half Marathon, taking place on 28th September.
General entry has now closed, but those wishing to run in support of CRASH can register here.
The picturesque marathon takes place along a 13 mile course in the Windsor Great Park, and is suitable for both novices and serious runners alike.
Runners can enter as an individual, or as a team with friends or colleagues. Participants will also have the chance to win the 2014 Construction Industry Team or Construction Industry Individual Trophy!
About CRASH
CRASH utilise the skills and goodwill of those in the construction and property industry to improve hostels, day centres, night shelters, training centres and move-on accommodation. They focus specifically on projects that will aid single homeless people over the age of 18, as this group is not entitled to receive any statutory assistance from the local authority.
Through the provision of on-site expertise, cash grants and building materials sourced from their patrons, CRASH helps other homelessness charities who deal directly with those in need to refurbish and develop their buildings.
Big Society Award
CRASH were recently recognised by the Prime Minister with a Big Society Award. “The innovative approach CRASH takes harnesses the world-class skills and products of our construction industry to tackle the issue of homelessness,” said David Cameron.
According to CRASH Chief Executive Francesca Roberts, “CRASH is the big society in action; the charity lies at the heart of the construction and property industry and is the conduit by which the companies and their employees can practically put something back to help communities across the UK.”
Last year, CRASH supported 68 homelessness projects, leveraging £188,974 of pro-bono professional expertise, £190,391 of donated and discounted materials and cash grants totalling £155,586 to help improve buildings and services.
DickiesStore are proud to have donated 200 free branded t-shirts as a gift to the CRASH team, their patrons and their supporters in 2013, and will continue to support CRASH in their future endeavours.
